Both your internal assessments (FIP’s) and end of year exam will test not only your knowledge within the course, but also your literacy and ability to comprehend key terms. These questions are predominantly worth 4 marks each so understanding what the question is asking you to do lays the foundation for a good answer.

Each question will contain one of the following COMMAND WORDS: ‘DESCRIBE’, ‘EXPLAIN’, ‘ANALYSE’ or ‘EVALUATE’. Each of these COMMAND WORDS will be asking you to answer the question in a different way. It is therefore vital that you clearly understand what each COMMAND WORD is asking you to do if you are to be successful on this course. Let’s look at each of them in more detail.
