Contribute to the SATPE Journal 2026

The SATPE Journal is your chance to have your say and share good practice, research and voice to teachers across Scotland. We are looking for:
STUDENT ARTICLES – Best Student Article will win £150 as part of the Peter Bilsborough Award
Student Research – this can be an abstract of your research project or dissertation
Lesson ideas
Placement experience
Or anything else you would like to share with the PE profession
TEACHER ARTICLES: For the chance to win £100 for best article
Teacher voice: Opinions on Early Years, ASN, BGE, Senior Phase
Sharing good practice: Lesson ideas and teaching strategies
Practitioner research: Practitioner enquiry
PROMOTIONAL ARTICLES/ADVERTS (eg Governing Bodies, Companies, businesses etc)
Promote: how your agency can positively impact PE and PE teachers
Support: Details of any current or upcoming initiatives, Information about how to sign up or get involved
Provide: SATPE Exclusive member offers
Last year’s winners:
- Best Article: Does having an open dialogue and positive relationship with parents improve pupils’ participation and attainment within physical education?, Bex Moodie, Whitehill Secondary
- Peter Bilsborough Award for Best Student Article: What does Physical Literacy mean and Look like to adults with a disability? Grace Stirling, University of Stirling
Word Count and format:
- Our recommended word count for articles is 500 words but this can be increased where necessary.
- Submissions should use size 11 Arial font using the template below. You may include graphs, photos or diagrams as you see fit.
- Any quotes or references should be cited in Harvard format.
- If you wish, you can also send a picture or photograph to accompany your article.
- Please feel free to include and attach any pictures or diagrams.
Submission Deadline:
Articles should be emailed to journal@satpe.co.uk no later than 1st August 2026.
